Just south of Belleville and across the Bay of Quinte is Prince Edward County, a large municipality that contains several small towns. The area has garnered quite a bit of attention in recent years.
Almost completely surrounded by lakes, bays, and waterways, Prince Edward County (PEC) has always been known for its stunning shorelines — namely, the bright sand beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park. More recently, however, PEC’s burgeoning tourism industry has attracted the attention of many vacationers from bigger nearby cities like Toronto and Ottawa.
About 25,000 permanent residents live in PEC, though the County welcomes thousands of cottagers, visitors, and tourists every year, primarily in the warmer months. Whether they’re touring some of the many acclaimed local wineries, breweries, and restaurants or renting a lakeside cottage in the area, the word about PEC as a holiday destination is spreading.
What does that mean for locals? A growing population, a bustling economy, and of course, rising property values. Prince Edward County is certainly an exciting place to be these days.
